It's just over a year since our wonderful mum died from secondary breast cancer. Mum absolutely loved walking and spending time outside in nature, and so we thought we would set ourselves a challenge and combine this with raising some money for Breast Cancer Now.
We decided to enter the 'Peak Divide' along with a couple of friends on the 20th/21st April. The event is a two day, 76km supported trail run from Manchester to Sheffield through the Peak District. Both of us managed to have trips with mum to this part of the world in the past couple of years, the last one being April 2022, the same year in which mum was diagnosed. During this, we hiked up Mam tor and Kinder Scout, the latter of which we will run over during the event.
Approximately 31 people die each day from secondary breast cancer, with an estimated 61,000 people living with incurable secondary breast cancer in the UK. We hope to be able to raise some money for Breast Cancer Now, in order to help "diagnose breast cancer earlier, find better treatments and improve people’s quality of life".
