In memory of Sue Salmon

18/07/1961 to 12/09/2016

It is hard to believe that nearly a year has passed since we lost Sue. Before she died she was very supportive of my efforts to complete the Great North Run in support of Breast Cancer Care, her favourite charity. In the event she died on the weekend of the race, and of course I could not take part. However, I had promised her a finisher's medal, and that is what I intend to get hold of on her behalf - even if it is a year late.

I am not alone in this endeavour, some very good friends have joined me to take part, and with their encouragement I've managed to complete my training. I am also overwhelmed by their collective fundraising efforts to date. It is time to make one last push to try and achieve our target.

It would make her proud that her legacy, in part, is to provide some assistance to other women going through similar trials to herself.

And yes, you could drown in those eyes…

Sue was a devoted mother to Alex, and a loving wife and partner of 35 years to Andy, along with being a generous and warm hearted friend and colleague to many. She had a great many interests in life from her passion toward live theatre and the arts, to her lifelong love of Brighton and Hove Albion football club and support for the Scotland rugby team. She enjoyed seeing the world through foreign travel, but also loved socialising with friends and colleagues - particularly if there was a quiz involved! She lived a full and energetic life, and her natural warmth and companionship is missed all the more with her untimely passing.
