In memory of Michelle de Young

On the 11th February this year my sister Michelle died of breast cancer at the age of just 51. I am still in shock. We had always been close but during her cancer treatment I learnt so much more about her. Michelle had strong ideas about how the world should be with an opinion on everything. We didn't always agree, it was often her way or no way!
This helped her massively during her treatment, always hungry for knowledge she became well versed on chemotherapy drugs, side effects and possible outcomes. I think she knew early on in her diagnosis that she had a difficult road ahead. Michelle constantly challenged her Doctors and Specialists, researching trial drugs and alternative treatments from all over the world.
She had a dry sense of humour which helped her through the many hours and days spent in hospital.
She was a loving Mother and loyal friend. I will always remember her as my funny, brave and beautiful sister.
