On the 9th July 2010, I will be completing my first ever triathlon! This includes a 750m open water swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km run which I am aiming to complete in under 100 minutes.

Sounds too much like hard work?! Let me first tell you the reasons why i'm putting myself through a crazy triathlon…

Last year a group of friends (including myself) successfully completed climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in memory of the mum of two wonderful friends, and because it was so much fun, and I love a challenge, I decided to carry on helping to raise money by giving something else I had never done a go.

The mum that I refer to is Jill Meekings who sadly passed away on 14th March 2008. During her life, following her diagnosis with Breast Cancer, she was an active fundraiser and also a volunteer worker at Breakthrough Labs.

She completed two full marathon moonlight walks, a sponsored trek in Nepal, and organised several charity auction events. In 2008, she organised a Crocus walk in which several hundred friends participated. She raised tens of thousands of pounds.

She is an inspiration to everyone and I feel honoured to be able to raise money in memory of such an incredible woman.

So, these are the reasons behind the triathlon and like I said before, all you need to do is a little finger exercise and donate!
