Eleanor’s breast cancer was diagnosed in January 2003. She underwent a mastectomy, radio therapy and several courses of chemotherapy, and died in May 2005. It was a gruelling experience for Eleanor and those closest to her. From the time she was diagnosed she was determined to continue with her work in Liverpool and did so until she came home for the last few weeks of her life. She needed enormous determination to do this, and gained the admiration of all those who knew her.
After Eleanor’s death I felt something permanent should be done in her memory, and having heard of B.C.C. and reading about the work they do, I decided to set up a memorial fund for her. I admire the work done by B.C.C, especially through the funds it donates to research into breast cancer.
